A member platform that did not require a reckless rewrite

A professional body wanted new digital products on a fifteen-year-old member system that still ran the organisation.

The problem
The core system held identity, payments, and entitlements. Replacing it in one move would have frozen the business. Wrapping it as-is would have blocked every new product the board had already promised.
What we did
We put an API in front of what had to stay, moved member-facing journeys onto a new platform, and cut over capability by capability. Legacy stayed the system of record until each slice had earned the right to leave.
What changed
New products shipped without a big-bang cutover. The estate can take further change — including AI where it belongs — without putting membership at risk.
