About

Two people. Twenty years.

Behind The Dot has been building software since 2006. We learned the craft before AI was a method: the specs, the handoffs, the systems that had to run after everyone else had gone home. We still do that work. We just refuse to pretend the tools have not changed.

Then

The old ways.

We know how software used to get made. Requirements documents. Design thrown over a wall. Engineering that never sat with the person who would use it. Large teams, slow loops, and a demo that could not survive a week in operations.

That is not nostalgia. It is how we tell a shortcut from a method.

Now

AI, with judgement.

AI is in how we work — design, engineering, evaluation, the lot — and in the product where it earns its place. The judgement is older than the tools. We have shipped without them.

That is why we know when to use them, and when they are theatre.

The studio

Ed and Marcus.

Two people is the whole team. You speak to the people who do the work. Nothing is translated by an account manager, and nothing is handed to a junior bench to learn on your estate.

Founder

Ed Raynham

Ed started the studio in 2006 and still writes the software. Commercially minded, impatient with ceremony, and most at home in the systems a business actually runs on — the unglamorous work that has to be right on a Tuesday.

Developer

Marcus Darc

Marcus designs and builds alongside Ed. The other pair of hands on the product, and the other pair of eyes on whether it will hold up once the demo is over. Same standard. No bench.
